Sheila Brown
Sheila started her ballroom dance career on the west coast, teaching and competing for over 20 years. Sheila's teaching credentials are extensive from the Fred Astaire, Arthur Murray, and the DVIDA syllabi. Sheila is experienced in the International and American syllabi, shag and salsa styles as well. Not only has Sheila competed in the professional dancesport circuit, but she has also had many students who compete at the amateur level. This will be her third year judging at the Gamecock Invitational.
Sergiy Samchynskyy & Yuliya Besarab
Dancing since age seven, Sergiy is a renowned professional ballroom dancer and instructor, having trained throughout Europe. Renowned as a premier dance instructor in Ukraine, Sergiy has trained juveniles and juniors couples who represented Ukraine at the international level. Sergiy has also competed nationally and internationally. With his professional dance partner Yuliya, Sergiy won the Ukraine National Amateur Championship in 2005 thus becoming the Ukrainian representatives to all major international championships in the world during their tenure. Sergiy and Yuliya moved to the United States in 2006 and quickly became the Latin and Standard Rising Stars Finalists. In 2007, they became Finalists in the US 10 Dance Championship, and continue today as premier competitors in the US. Sergiy is a principal dance instructor at Metropolitan Ballroom.
Eduardo Torres & Cristina Acevedo
Eduardo Torres and Cristina Acevedo have been dancing together for 5 years. They started in the collegiate scene and fell in love with dancing pretty quick. Now, they teach at the South Carolina Ballroom Company in Greenville, SC. They just became professional dancers and had a very promising start, semi-finalist of Hotlanta 2006, 1st place in rising star Hotlanta 2006. As amateurs they won several events: 2005 SE Regionals Champions, 2005 Ohio Star Ball Champions, 2005 National Sub-champions, 2006 3rd place National American Rhythm Championship, etc.
Valery Ganiev
Val comes to Columbia from Russia, where he was a graduate of Moscow State University. Val came to the University of South Carolina and received his masters in Geology. He has years of competitive experience in International style dance and also teaches social and competitive American style. Currently, Val and his partner compete professionally and are U.S. American Style 9-dance finalists.
